Preparing the Next Generation of Beauty Professionals for Long-Term Success

Our Modern Curriculum Stays on Top of Trends

Learning how to be a cosmetologist means you start with the basic skills and knowledge, and you work your way toward more advanced techniques. Our Cosmetology Program is designed to prepare you to sit for the state exam, but we don’t stop there! We are constantly updating our curriculum to fit the ever-evolving beauty industry. Students learn the technical and soft skills that help turn creative talent into a real career.

At our family-owned cosmetology school in Connecticut, we help students build a deep relationship with our dedicated instructors. If you are here to learn cosmetology, you can expect hands-on support from us throughout your entire educational experience. We truly care about your personal success. To us, you are not just another number. You are part of our family, and we want you to feel a warm and inclusive welcome.

The 1500-hour Cosmetology Program is offered at our Wethersfield and Plainville campuses. We use Pivot Point’s Salon Success Program, which helps students prepare for a future career as a cosmetologist. You can gain a strong technical background and also practice your people skills through a balance of classroom instruction and skills practice on the salon floor, providing services to clients under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. The Cosmetology Program can be completed in as little as one year.

I had an amazing experience at IIC. I've learned so much in such a short period of time and couldn't be happier with Ms.Jessica as my educator.

Sara Caldwell

This experience all together has confirmed that I made an amazing choice for a career. Ms.Rosie was and always will be the best part of it.

Jamina Singleton

I previously graduated from IIC in 2017 from the aesthetics program. I returned to the school because of how well they treat their students and the education I received was amazing.

FAQs About Our Cosmetology Program

How long does it take to complete the Cosmetology Program?

This 1500-hour program can be completed in as little as one year.

How can I make tuition more affordable?

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Begin the financial aid process by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). We understand that paying for beauty school is a top concern for students. That’s why we have a financial aid team that will meet with you and walk you through your options. Contact us with any financial aid/tuition questions.

Is there a part-time or evening schedule?

At this time, we only offer a full-time schedule for cosmetology. However, we do have different four-day schedules with different start dates, allowing you to choose the schedule that fits your life.

If you are looking for a beauty program that offers part-time schedules, consider one of our shorter programs or courses, such as applying lash extensions as an eyelash technician, offering manicures or pedicures as a nail technician, or learning to apply makeup as a professional makeup artist from our Makeup Artistry course.

Do you accept homeschooled students?

Homeschooled students may be eligible for enrollment if they meet state law standards, provide a certificate of completion, and have a third party sign a statement verifying completion of homeschooling.

Is cosmetology the same as hairdressing?

In Connecticut, cosmetology and hairdressing are terms used interchangeably. This program can be called “cosmetology” or “hairdressing.” Students focus mostly on hair training, but they also learn a variety of other beauty services, such as nail care, makeup, and skincare.
