If it’s your goal to get a beauty education, we want to help you remove the financial barriers that may be in your way. Applying for financial aid is one way to make your beauty education at International Institute of Cosmetology more affordable. Cosmetology and Esthetics students may qualify for federal financial aid. All prospective students could find other ways to reduce tuition costs or spread out payments over time. Take some time to review your financial aid options, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Our Students Are Supported and Valued From Day One
Financial Aid is available to those who qualify in our Cosmetology and Esthetics Programs only. Find out if you qualify by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). You must complete all required documentation before you can enroll as a financial aid student. Our financial aid advisor can assist you with this, or you can submit your application online.
Our Federal School code is 041524.
Follow these steps to apply for financial aid:
Step 1: Create FSA ID: The username and password you create is how you sign into all Department of Education websites, including the FAFSA®.
If the student is under the age of 24 or considered a dependent on the FAFSA®, a parent will also need to create an FSA ID.
Step 2: Complete the FAFSA®: To complete the FAFSA®, you will need the following information:
Social Security number
Tax information (for yourself or your parents if you are a dependent student)
Bank statements and income records
School code (our code is 041524)
If necessary, ask for help from your support at home.
Step 3: Set Up an Appointment With Our Financial Aid Department: During this meeting, we can discuss your financial aid options and come up with a financial plan that works for you. Contact the financial aid department at (860) 571-0330 or by filling out an online form.
Step 4: Entrance Counseling: Your financial aid officer will help walk you through this process.
You may be eligible for federal aid if you meet the following requirements:
The Federal Pell Grant is available to undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA®. Unlike a loan, the Federal Pell Grant does not have to be repaid. Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree or a professional degree.
Subsidized loans are for eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to help cover the costs of school. Interest does not accumulate on the subsidized loan while the student is enrolled at school. This is money that is borrowed from the government, and you will need to pay it back.
This is another type of federal student loan, which is money borrowed from the government. It must be paid back. Unlike the subsidized loans, the undergraduate student does not have to demonstrate financial need to be eligible. Interest begins to accumulate once the loan has been disbursed.
The Federal Parent PLUS loan is a credit-based loan available to parents (biological, adoptive, or, in some cases, stepparents) of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for the student’s educational expenses. PLUS loan borrowers cannot have an adverse credit history and must meet the general eligibility requirements for federal student aid. Repayment begins immediately after the loan is fully disbursed. This type of loan can be combined with other financial aid resources and cannot exceed the student’s cost of attendance.
Sallie Mae® is the nation’s top private student loan lender. Sallie Mae® helps over 300,000 students pay for college each year, lending more money to students than any other private student loan provider. Applying for a Sallie Mae® loan is fast and easy.
International Institute of Cosmetology is not affiliated with and does not endorse Sallie Mae® or any outside lending option.
Even if you do not qualify for a federal student loan, or you are enrolling in a program that is not eligible for federal financial aid, you may be able to get a student loan from a local bank, credit union, or other financial institution. The bank will likely need to know where you are planning to attend school and how many hours you will be attending.
Finding and applying for scholarships related to your chosen program could help you pay for tuition. Scholarships typically do not need to be repaid. Here are some examples of beauty education scholarships:
