International Institute of Cosmetology is a fully-accredited beauty school offering a number of programs that can lead to fulfilling careers in the beauty industry. You’ll get hands-on training in cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, nail technology, eyelash extensions, makeup artistry, and more. Admissions Requirements for Prospective Students

What does it take to become a student at International Institute of Cosmetology? Read through the admissions requirements for the program of your choice. If you have any questions, let us know, so we can help you reach your educational goals.

Admissions Requirements for Cosmetology, Barbering, and Esthetics
  • Be above the age of 17 at enrollment date.
  • Must be a high school graduate, have obtained a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or meet our school’s homeschool requirement.
  • Submit a copy of the high school diploma/official transcripts or equivalent, GED certificate, or homeschool certification.
  • Submit a copy of all of the following: Proof of date of birth (driver’s license or birth certificate) and verification of Social Security number (can be done with a FAFSA® or student showing the Social Security card to the admissions department; a copy of the Social Security card will not be kept for security purposes).
  • Complete a personal interview with an admissions representative, either in-person or virtually.
  • Complete a student application (May be completed online here).
  • Pay a non-refundable application fee of $50 (unless you have a waiver from the school).
  • Submit your application essay.
  • Pay a registration fee of $150.
  • Non-Private Pay students are required to make a $500 down-payment to cover part of the equipment costs.
  • Private Pay students are required to make a down payment for application/registration fees, books, tools, taxes, and part of the tuition of $3900 (Cosmetology students) and $2500 (Esthetics students). This payment can be made in the form of cash, check, or credit card.
  • Title IV students are asked to submit all verification information, should it be needed within two weeks of verification notification or prior to start date (the lesser of the two).
  • Complete and sign an enrollment agreement.

  • Be above the age of 17 at enrollment date.
  • Must be a high school graduate, have obtained a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or meet our school’s homeschool requirement.

FAQs About Admissions and Enrollment

Are there part-time schedules available?

Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Barbering all have four-day full-time schedules, while Nail Technician, Eyelash Technician, and Makeup Artistry offer part-time schedules.

What are the school's homeschool requirements?

Homeschooled students may be eligible for enrollment if they meet state law standards, provide a certificate of completion, and have a third party sign a statement verifying completion of homeschooling.

Can Ability to Benefit (ATB) students apply for enrollment?

No, our school does not accept Ability to Benefit (ATB) students at this time.

Do I have to write an essay?

The application essay is required for prospective students in the Cosmetology, Barbering, and Esthetics Programs only. In 2,000 words or fewer, write about your passion and dreams for the beauty, wellness, or barber industry. Also, describe how our school will help you attain those dreams and what support system you have at home that will help you balance school, work, and your personal life. You are encouraged to be creative with the essay!

Is financial aid available for all the programs?

At this time, students in the Cosmetology and Esthetics Programs can apply for federal financial aid. Students in all of our programs may be able to attain other means of financial aid, such as a scholarship or a student loan from a bank, credit union, or lending company. You could also take advantage of our school’s split payment options.
